“Silver Crane” – Lithuanian Film and Television Award, annually awarded to the most deserving actors, directors and film specialists. The winners of the Silver Winch will be awarded a statuette at a solemn ceremony. That is one of the largest continuous cultural projects in Lithuania, the only one in the country uniting all cinematographic guilds. The awards are intended to promote, develop and motivate the production of Lithuanian films. This project has already become not only a cultural entertainment event for cinematographers and spectators, but also an educational project for all Lithuanians. The awards have been running since 2008. The winners will receive a statue of a graceful bird cast by sculptor Audrius Liaudanskas – a winch, symbolizing a tool called a winch in cinema and television, intended for filming with a moving camera.

The objectives of the Silver Winch Awards are:

To promote film and television production in Lithuania.
To honor and award Lithuanian cinematographers.
To promote the distribution of Lithuanian cinema and acquaint the Lithuanian audience with the latest Lithuanian cinema productions.
By uniting Lithuanian cinema, appear on the map of European cinema.
Lithuanian films often do not reach the Lithuanian audience not only because of the dissemination of information, but also because of our skeptical attitude towards national cinema. Therefore, by collecting the best of the year, “Silver Crane” hopes that more and more viewers will see and try Lithuanian cinema again, which is becoming more European, younger and better.
